MonaLisa Touch Q & A
What is MonaLisa Touch?
Evergreen Women's Health, PC. is the only clinic in Clark County to offer MonaLisa Touch, a noninvasive vaginal treatment that uses laser energy to stimulate tissue healing. With age and/or hormone changes, your vaginal tissue can atrophy. Menopause is a major cause, but some women suffer vaginal health problems following cancer treatment or right after childbirth.
The laser energy from MonaLisa Touch increases circulation in the vaginal area and encourages your body to produce more collagen. Collagen is a major protein in your tissues that provides elasticity and skin strength. More collagen means you have a greater capacity for tissue hydration and mucosal elasticity.
What symptoms does MonaLisa Touch address?
If you’re experiencing pain or discomfort during intercourse, MonaLisa Touch can help. It also addresses other vaginal issues such as:
- Atrophy
- Itching
- Dryness
- Laxity
MonaLisa Touch can also help with mild urinary incontinence.
At Evergreen Women's Health, PC., Dr. McNally recognizes that sexual health is an essential part of your overall well-being and happiness. She works with you to evaluate your symptoms and determine if MonaLisa Touch is right for you.
What happens during a MonaLisa Touch session?
During your treatment, you lie comfortably on an exam table with your feet up in stirrups. Dr. McNally inserts a sterile probe into your vagina. She then runs a probe along the outer walls, too. You may feel a slight warmth or tingling as the probe delivers gentle laser energy. The procedure is painless and quick, taking less than 10 minutes.
How many MonaLisa Touch sessions do I need?
You notice a difference after your first session, but optimal results come after a series of treatments. Dr. McNally recommends three treatments, spaced six weeks apart. After that, all you need is a yearly maintenance session.
Should I schedule downtime following MonaLisa Touch treatments?
You can resume all normal activities after your procedure. You should avoid sexual intercourse or tampon usage for about two days afterward to allow your tissue to heal and remodel.
MonaLisa Touch is a game-changer when it comes to the vaginal discomfort that arises due to hormonal changes. Call Evergreen Women's Health, PC. to schedule your treatment and restore sexual wellness.
